‘Uruka’ celebrations in Baihata Chariali saw an ugly turn after ‘drunk’ miscreants engaged in a physical brawl.
The incident took place at a village in Baihata Chariali, at around 01:30 AM post-midnight.
One boy – identified as Bikash Chamuah allegedly fought with one of his neighbours. He brought a hammer along with him, to assault the other person.
‘Drunk’ Bikash then allegedly threw the hammer which hit another boy identified as Dhritiraj Chamuah’s elbow, ending up fracturing it.
Speaking to ‘the truth.’, Dhritiraj said, “this happened at the time when I was having my dinner during the Uruka celebrations. My elbow got fractured, as he threw the hammer. I was immediately rushed to our nearest hospital.”
“Bikash came to my home again at around 02:30 AM. He threatened my mother, abused her verbally and said that he would kill her if she tried to file any case against him,” Dhritiraj said.
An FIR has been registered at the Baihata Chariali Police Station. However, no action has been initiated yet.
