An already crisis-hit Pakistan has come under a sudden terrorist attack as Islamist militants launched a brazen attack on Karachi Police Headquarters, the country’s largest city on Friday.
The city of Karachi is currently in chaos as the sound of continuous gunfire and grenade explosions take over the city leading to heavy firing between Police, Paramilitary rangers, and attackers.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack that took over the city by storm. In a Whatsapp message to AFP, the Taliban stated, “Our Mujahideen martyrs have attacked Karachi Police Office. More details to follow”. (Reports)
According to Pakistani media reports, at least 5 militants were killed. Two people, including a police officer, lost their lives & 10 people including Rangers personnel were injured during the police operation: Pakistan’s Geo News.
The Inspector General (IG) Sindh police said that 2 terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire with the security officials while the operation is still underway to neutralize possibly up to five more terrorists in the Karachi Police Office (KPO): Pakistan’s ARY News
