North India experiences ‘Never before like’ Cold wave, with experts predicting a dip in temperature to -4°c.
Founder of an online Weather platform ‘Live Weather of India – Navdeep Dahiya said that severe chills are on the horizon between January 14 and 19 and are likely to be at their peak from January 16 to 18.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) also predicted that cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Delhi and its neighbouring states from Saturday.
Dense to very dense fog was observed over parts of Punjab, Northwest Rajasthan, Jammu division, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Tripura.
However, certain reports claimed the possibility of snowfall in Delhi, which is not possible.
Navdeep Dahiya replying to one such query wrote, “-2.2°c is historically low for Delhi, touching -1°c will be a great deal but snowfall is not happening anytime soon.”
He added, “Whenever there are winter rains mins are always above 10°c, Snowfall Kaise bhi Nahi ho Sakta.”
