A new study from Tsinghua University in Beijing has found that those who drink large quantities of energy drinks are at greater risk of suffering from male pattern hair loss.
Experts from Tsinghua University in Beijing gathered 1,000 men who were required to consume between one and three litres of the drinks each week.
They noticed that those who consumed more than one sweetened drink each day were at a 42 per cent greater risk of experiencing hair loss, in comparison to men who did not drink high-caffeine and sugar drinks.
Further, Men who drink energy drinks, and sweetened tea revealed that they were experiencing hair loss and also said that they consumed on average 12 sweetened drinks per week.
The study also revealed that those who ate more fast food and fewer vegetables also experienced hair loss at a faster rate.
It was also discovered that people with a history of anxiety issues were also more prone to the condition. Several studies in the past stated that a healthy diet is key to lustrous locks and lower odds of hair loss.
According to the National Health Service (NHS), it is normal to lose hair – approximately 50 to 100 strands a day. In most cases, it is nothing to worry about, but sometimes it can be indicative of an underlying health condition.
